My Day In Court

So, today was my court date in my suit against Gilla Roos. I won. Yay!! I now have a judgement against them, the only issue is that there is no way for me to get my money. I can't really talk about anything else because I have some more legal issues to iron out. I will be giving a full break down in the next few weeks about what the process was like and the final outcome of this messy situation.

Photoshoot Today

So, I had a photo shoot today. It was for a new hair company and I was called by the marketing director to model some of the new lace fronts and wigs. I have worked with them before and they seem to really like me because they call me whenever they shoot new products. I do a lot of hair modeling and have had several spreads in different hair magazines. I'm also the face on some different hair packages. I get random phone calls and messages from people who have seen my face in a beauty supply store or magazines. These types of shoots are very easy and pay pretty well for a one day shoot. I usually make $500 or $600 for the day.

I had to be there at 9am this morning and it was very difficult getting out of bed at 7:30 in the morning. I was up late last night (until 1am) because I had to get my hair straight so it would lay flat under the wigs. Well, that didn't exactly work out, so instead I just had a giant afro that I forced into a messy puff. Luckily, the other model that I shot with knows how to braid hair so she graciously offered to put my hair in two corn rows so my hair would fit under the wig cap.

Because we were only modeling wigs, there was no hair stylist on the set. The marketing directors styled the wigs and we had a wardrobe stylist dressing us for each look. All together, there were about 30 wigs so we each had to model around 15 different looks. It took an hour for makeup and then we just started cranking out wigs one by one. We alternated shooting with the photographer, doing anywhere from 5-15 poses per look. Each look took about 5-10 minutes from styling to shooting. After we finished one look, we were put in a different top and a new wig while the other girl shot. The day was pretty monotonous, but still very easy. We were fed a nice breakfast and lunch and the photographer (we shoot at his studio) always plays great music.

Here are a few looks from the shoot. My camera died so I couldn't get that many. The flash also made my makeup look kind of chalky in a few photos, but the MUA actually did a great job. The first photo was taken before my makeup was finished. My hair looks a hot mess! The rest are the final looks.

So these are a few of the looks that I did. I also modeled several other wigs that were SO pretty! I was very upset that my camera died. :( I have another hair shoot on Friday, but I'm only modeling one look. I'm going to get some more photos of the set and post them.

NBC Interview

Last week was very busy for me. In addition to starting a new job, I had (along with about 25 other Gilla Roos models) a lengthy interview with NBC's Brian Thompson. He was so gracious to take on our story and give it the media attention that it deserves. The interview lasted about 2 hours and was very informal. We all sat around a long table in a conference room at NBC Studios in midtown Manhattan. One by one, we were given the opportunity to tell our stories about how we found out about the agency closing, how we felt, and how much money we lost because of the crook that is David Roos.

It felt great to be around a group of people that were going through the same hardship as myself. I didn't feel so alone. I also learned a great deal more about the scandal, including the fact that since GR closed, David Roos has attempted to open a new talent agency. This time, he was looking only for inexperienced talent, in order to scam them out of money no doubt. One of the models at the interview ran into another model that had been rejected from this new agency because she had too much experience. This particular agency has since gone under. No surprise there. I'm going to post the link for anyone that is interested in reading more about the story or for those who just wish to watch the videos again. Also, please leave some supportive comments on the page. Naturally, some inconsiderate idiots have come out of the woodwork to make their voices heard. It never fails.

Sony Casting ; Interview on NBC??

Sony Casting

Friday I had a very quick casting for a Sony Catalogue that shoots on the 15th of this month. It was a very quick, cattle call type casting. You just walk in, get a stat sheet with your number, and when they call your number, you go in the room where they take about three photos of you. That's it. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I also ran into an acquaintance from Gilla Roos that I ALWAYS run into at castings. She's a really cool chick. I'll know in a few days whether or not I booked it.

I did not book the Strattera Job that I went on a casting for last week.

NBC Interview??

Well, in the weeks since Gilla Roos closed down, some former models/actors from the agency have put together a group called Gilla Roos Action and they have been on a crusade to bring down David Roos and receive payment for their past jobs. Several people have filed small claims and a few went to court this past week, with rulings in their favor. Yay!

Last week, an article about the entire incident ran in BackStage, a very popular news magazine (newspaper, rather) about the entertainment industries. You can read the article here. Now, a news correspondent from NBC wants to sit down with as many people involved as possible so that we can discuss our situations! Filming is supposed to take place Monday evening and we were asked to bring our comp cards and headshots for a visual effect. I've signed up to do the news broadcast and I'm very excited to be a part of this. I never thought in a million years that this would get as much attention as it is right now, but I'm very thankful to the people that have put forth so much time and effort.

I will definitely be updating on this situation.
