Photoshoot Today

So, I had a photo shoot today. It was for a new hair company and I was called by the marketing director to model some of the new lace fronts and wigs. I have worked with them before and they seem to really like me because they call me whenever they shoot new products. I do a lot of hair modeling and have had several spreads in different hair magazines. I'm also the face on some different hair packages. I get random phone calls and messages from people who have seen my face in a beauty supply store or magazines. These types of shoots are very easy and pay pretty well for a one day shoot. I usually make $500 or $600 for the day.

I had to be there at 9am this morning and it was very difficult getting out of bed at 7:30 in the morning. I was up late last night (until 1am) because I had to get my hair straight so it would lay flat under the wigs. Well, that didn't exactly work out, so instead I just had a giant afro that I forced into a messy puff. Luckily, the other model that I shot with knows how to braid hair so she graciously offered to put my hair in two corn rows so my hair would fit under the wig cap.

Because we were only modeling wigs, there was no hair stylist on the set. The marketing directors styled the wigs and we had a wardrobe stylist dressing us for each look. All together, there were about 30 wigs so we each had to model around 15 different looks. It took an hour for makeup and then we just started cranking out wigs one by one. We alternated shooting with the photographer, doing anywhere from 5-15 poses per look. Each look took about 5-10 minutes from styling to shooting. After we finished one look, we were put in a different top and a new wig while the other girl shot. The day was pretty monotonous, but still very easy. We were fed a nice breakfast and lunch and the photographer (we shoot at his studio) always plays great music.

Here are a few looks from the shoot. My camera died so I couldn't get that many. The flash also made my makeup look kind of chalky in a few photos, but the MUA actually did a great job. The first photo was taken before my makeup was finished. My hair looks a hot mess! The rest are the final looks.

So these are a few of the looks that I did. I also modeled several other wigs that were SO pretty! I was very upset that my camera died. :( I have another hair shoot on Friday, but I'm only modeling one look. I'm going to get some more photos of the set and post them.
