New Headshots

I'm currently wearing my hair in Marley twists (also known as puffy twists, fluffy twists, etc.) and I'm obsessed! Since I don't plan on changing my hair anytime soon, I needed new headshots to reflect my new look. I reached out to my friend/classmate, Alexis Dickey, the owner of Alexis Dickey Photography, and she hooked your girl all the way up!!

Check out the shots below:

What do you guys think? Clearly, I'm partial to a grey background, although I shot with maybe 5 different backgrounds.

If you're in the market for some excellent new photos, please give Alexis a call! She did a killer job.

  1. Hey, first of all. I think the hair style suit you. :)
And yeah, grey goes with you very well. Better than the pink one in my opinion. The pink is too bright and sharp. It is easy to fade you out, but the grey will match you, not blending, but make you stand out and softer, so you look nice and gentle.

(yeah, I send you an email. It's my first time send you email. So, I kinda wonder if I did correctly or not...Wonder did send and successfully delivered to you or not..haha...)

    thx!!

  2. Thank you Claire! I love the pink and my agents love it too. I had to be talked into that background and I think it looks great. It's a commercial shot so it needs to have a different energy. I would not use that for tv/film castings.

And yes, I received your email. I try to respond to emails in the order that I get them and will respond to yours when I have a chance.

  4. I think the look is lovely, and your make-up is beautiful! And I'm looking into your photographer right now! I just moved here, again, from NYC, where I have about 8 years commercial modeling experience. Been focused on other things but want to get back into it. I found your site via Backstage and definitely appreciate your tips. It's becoming my guide for navigating things here. Lots of questions re agents and such, but will read as much as I can before shooting out any particulars. I thank you! Best...

  9. Hi Andrea! I'm such a fan of Marley twists and box braids, especially in the winter! I'd love to switch things up from my fro for a little while but I'm nervous about even bringing that up with my commercial agency. Did you book work with the twists in? What was the response from your agent, manager, CDs, etc.? And a big congratulations on all the projects you've been involved in this year so far. That's so awesome!

    1. I wore the twists during the summer when things were slow. I also wore them last summer and did book a national commercial with them in.

I didn't ask my reps their opinion on my hair, although they did love them. I just put them in and told them later. I made sure to give them headshots that they could use when I wear my hair in twists. When I wore them this summer, I was in the process of meeting with managers and every manager but one loved them. They said it made me unique. I will probably wear them again next summer if I feel like it.

I don't see why you would be nervous to bring it up. It's your hair, not theirs. If they have a strong opinion, they'll tell you. And then you can choose whether or not to heed their thoughts.
